Desmostylus resembled a modern hippopotamus in appearance, but scientists are still unsure of its exact position in the mammal family tree, with some suggesting that it was closer to elephants while others proposing it was part of a separate side branch of mammals that left no modern descendants! Like all prehistoric creatures made for the PaleoVentures lines, this creature is brought to life in a cute and simplified appearance.
