OCEAN-089 LUNASPIS

PaleoVentures presents the Lunaspis as figure number 089 of its Ocean Series!


Lunaspis is a member of the petalichthyid family of placoderms, which are characterised by splayed pectoral fins, exaggerated lateral spines, flattened bodies, dorsally-oriented eyes and numerous tubercles that decorated all of the plates and scales of their armour! Megaraptor is known for the large 35 cm (14 in)-long claw that was originally thought to be the larger version of the sickle shaped claw that belonged on the second toe of a dromaeosaurid like Velociraptor, but the later discovery of a complete forelimb revealed that the large claws actually belonged on the hands and not the feet!
